Covid Policy to attend trips and events organised by the International Society.

Most of our events include refreshments and our trips will require you to be sat on a coach for an extended period of time. As such, we have made the decision to require all participants to undertake a lateral flow test before attending our activities.

The reason we are asking all participants to perform a lateral flow test is because most of our members are international students and we understand that some of you may not have yet had access to the Covid vaccine or have a vaccine that is not being recognised in the UK and as such are not able to obtain a Covid pass. In this way, we want to do the best we possibly can to ensure that you are able to make friendships and have a great time at university.

Performing a lateral flow test

You can order a set of 7 lateral flow test online here which will take 1-2 days to be delivered to your accommodation or you can collect them on campus from the reception desk at the Student’s Union or any of the campus catering outlets, Food on Campus (Please check opening times from the link provided) The lateral flow test is FREE, you do not have to pay for the self-testing kit.

The test must be done no longer than 12 hours before the start of the event/trip. We recommend that for trips, you perform the test the night before and for events you perform the test in the morning.

Instructions on how to do the test are provided within the pack.

Once you have performed the test, you will need to report the results of your test.

Reporting your results

You can only report the results of your lateral flow test online. You are not able to do it through the app. Click here to report your results. Once you have reported your results, you will receive an email and a text from the NHS. That email/text along with your registration for our events will enable you to attend our events. You do not have to print the email/text or your ticket if you have a smart phone. Please be ready to show us the email/text from the NHS on your phone when you attend our events.

In order to keep everyone safe and for us to continue organising our events in a safe way for everyone, we highly recommend that all participants download the NHS track and trace app here and continue to wear a face mask while walking around inside buildings.

We do apologise for the inconvenience this is causing however we appreciate your understanding in helping us keep everyone healthy and safe. We hope you will enjoy the activities we have organised for you and if you have any questions or doubts, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Best wishes and looking forward to meeting all of you.

Staff of the International Society
